Before The Great War, many alliances between European nations had been formed. These two groups of alliances created two powers, the axis or central powers, which included Austro-Hungary, Bulgaria, the German Empire, and the Ottoman Empire, and the Allied powers, Russia, Great Britain, France, Italy, and a few smaller countries. This formation of alliances between nations is what turned a war between Austro-Hungary and Serbia, into a war between the world.
