n the declaration, congress wanted Thomas Jefferson to explain to the world why the colonies were choosing to separate from Britain.

According to Jefferson, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness were the rights all people were born with. Thomas also stated that if these rights were ignored, the people would have the right to alter or abolish it; then create a new government that will protect their safety and happiness.

Thomas Jefferson listed that King George's crimes and abuses were maintaining an absolute tyranny over the states and he was unfit to be a king of a free people.
