Basic Belief System

- Jains aim to live in a way that their soul doesn't get any more karma
- they have 5 absences:
1. Non- violence (Ahimsa)- most central Jain teaching
2. Truthfulness (Satya)- don't tell lies, always tell truth
3. Not stealing (Asteya)- don't steal and be honest
4. Non- acquisition (Aparigraha)- don't believe in having a lot of possession
5. Chaste living (Brahmarya)
