Comparing Artwork about Warfare

Paintings of warfare during the period of the French Revolution depicted war to be a noble and valiant thing: the women are seen throwing flowers at the soldiers, and the men on horses were painted regally, sitting at attention and focused. The World War Two poster used the image of a gorilla holding an exposed defenseless woman to create the image in the audience's mind that the Germans were animals, less than human, and that they would destroy our dignity if we failed to defend against them.
