•The Muslims discovered that gunpowder could be used for weaponry

•New weaponry was made for war and battles in 1670 and 1729

• William Congreve developed rockets to use in battles

•English and Dutch armies developed the howitzer in the 17th century

•Fun fact: they didn't invent gunpowder in the Renaissance, it was actually invented around 1040 in China and was used to create fireworks, but the Renaissance was the time when people realized they could use it for defense systems

•This affected us in several ways such as changing military tactics, men no longer had to train for years to be useful in battle
