Definitions
Quorum- the minimum number of members that must be present at any meeting for it to be valid
Cloture- a method of closing a debate and causing an immediate vote to be taken on the question
Table- to lay aside for further discussion
Bill- form or draft of a proposed statute presented to a legislature
Report- statement of a congressional opinion or decision
Act- formal decision, law, or the like, by a legislature, ruler, court, or other authority
Enrolled Bill- a copy of a bill passed by both houses of Congress, signed by their presiding officers, and sent to the President for signature
Session- the sitting together of a court, council, legislature, or the like, for conference or the transaction of business
Majority/minority party- two main parties in a house. Party with most members is referred to as the "majority" party while the other is the "minority" party
Standing committee- permanent committee, as of a legislature
Joint committee- a committee appointed from both houses of a bicameral legislature in order to reach a compromise on their differences concerning a particular issue.
