They tried to impose this upon Cambodia by attempting to force everyone to work under a single farm institution
Everyone, including elders and children, were forced out of their towns and villages
Intellectuals were killed no matter what as the Rouge wanted nobody of higher thinking
Forced children to work in organized labor camps
Killed anyone working too slowly or resisting control/trying to escape
Anyone caught showing signs of family or affection were also killed on site
