War Powers Act
•1973, Congress passed the War Powers Act as an attempt to set limits on the power of the president. This law requires the president to inform Congress of any commitment of troops with 48 hours. It also requires the president to withdraw troops in 60-90 days unless Congress approves the troop commitment.
