Rise in the Nazi Party
-After being severely wounded in the putsch, Göring had developed a major morphine addiction. With his wife dying in 1931, he rose to the presidency of the Reichstag. Hitler granted him the power to create the Gestapo and concentration camps.
-After helping Adolf Hitler take power in 1933, he became the second-most powerful man in Germany.
- He founded the Gestapo in 1933, and later gave command of it to Heinrich Himmler.
