Franklin Ramón Chang Diaz was born on April 5,1950 in San José, Costa Rica. He is an astronaut for NASA, and was selected to be part of NASA in May of 1980. Along with being an astronaut, he is also an engineer and a physicist. In 2005, he retired, and is 64 years old.
