Serfs
In Medieval Europe, a serf was a peasant bound to the lord's land.
When a fief, or piece of land, was given away, they new owners would
also obtain property of the peasants that were on the land. They are
known as serfs.
If the serfs were never kept with the property, it may be difficult to keep the farm alive.
