They occur in North America (in the Pacific Northwest, the British Columbia Coast and in the inland rainforest of the Rocky Mountain Trench), in Europe (parts of the coastal areas of Ireland and Scotland, Southern Norway, and coastal areas of the eastern Black Sea, including coastal Turkey and Georgia), in East Asia (southern China, Taiwan, much of Japan and Korea), in South America (southern Chile) and also Australia and New Zealand.
