Canopy layer- uppermost layer of vegetation in a plant community; in forested areas, mature trees would be the canopy layer.
Understory layer- In between the Canopy and Ground layer, is home to a number of birds, snakes, lizards, as well as predators such as Jaguars, Boa constrictors, and Leopards.
Ground layer- Only plants adapted to low light can grow in this region. Also contains decaying plant and animal matter, which disappears quickly because the warm, humid conditions promote rapid decay.
