How did the civil war end?
The south had lost everything and their troops were dying. The union soldiers were doing well and still fighting hard against the confederates. The union had an easy victory at this point. The confederacy was trying to come up with peace negotiations with the union to try to save the south. Lincoln rejected the request for this to happen, and a month later the confederates burned down Richmond. Lee's surrender ended the war.
