Where it was invented

~Alessandro was a professor of physics at the University of Pavia in Como Italy in the year 1779, and it was at that University where he invented his best invention yet, the Voltaic Pile.

What did it replace?

~People had to make fires to be warm, there were no electric heaters they had oil lamps and candles that were easy to transport and they were also very affordable

Benefits

~ The Battery provided a steady stream of energy, that was called a "wet cell battery" the benefit was it was a more reliable battery then first battery he had made. The wet cell battery was an add on to his voltaic pile.

Impact on life today

~ Today batteries power many of our hand held devices (phones, cameras,etc.) and also powers many devices we use at a job for instance a computer or even a lawn mower for landscaping jobs.
