Endogenous RetroViruses

What are they?

They are viruses in the genome that contain RNA rather than DNA.

How are they evidence for evolution?

They are evidence because genetic material is left in the host's genome, leaving a genetic footprint to be traced for all future ancestors, showing how certain species are alike in what they evolved from and in what order they evolved from the original ancestor.
