WATCH

Description: In this staue, we see a human figure without a head. The figure is not all human however, it has one wing. It is covered with a feminine toga. The color now is dingy bronze, but I assume was not originally.

Analysis Of Elements of Art:

- Organic form in used in the actual "human" itself

- Organic shape is used in the flowing toga.

- Texture is used in how the figure looks smooth, but with   rough edges where the toga is

Analysis Of Principles Of Design

- Movement is used in the wing

- Balance is used in how the wing is symmetrical to the   figure. It does not overpower it.

Interpretation:The outstretched wing shows power and confidence. It shows this by the wavy lines on top of the wing which symbolizes calmness, but the jagged lines at the bottom of the wing shows toughness in the figure. Those together give the effect of confidence. The wavy lines on her togo show that she is completely comfortable and at home where she is.

Judgment: I really like this statue. I have always been interested in Greek mythology, and I was very excited when I came across this piece. It shows the confidence that attracted me to these myths in the way that she stands. It feels like I am looking at an actual goddess. It is very real. The work itself is very intricate because of the combination of the jagged and smooth lines. It is very pleasing to look at. The artist has been successful in communicating the content of the work.
