Mental Illness - defined

Australia is currently committed to the improvement and provision of mental health services in Australia. The National Mental Health strategy aims to ‘promote the mental health of Australian community; reduce the impact of mental disorders; assure the rights of people with mental health conditions; enables recovery; aims to prevent and detect mental illness early; and ensures that all Australians with illness can access effective and appropriate treatment and community support to enable them to participate fully in the community.’ (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2013).
