Allegory in literature:
1. Animal farm by George Orwell. The author uses animals to describe the Communist Revolution of Russia before World War II. The animals over throw mr. Jones the manager of the farm, to rule the farm themselves. This represents Czar Nicholas II being overthrown in Russian history.
Other examples include the character boxer in animal farm. The hard working horse represents the labor class. The character Napoleon is a pig to represent Joseph Stalin.

A figure of speech in which abstract ideas and principles are described in terms of characters, figures, and events.
