Intro to Embryological Data
Embryology used to be a descriptive science, however modern embryologists study the various steps necessary for development of a living organism.
In the late 1800s, some scientists felt that embryology not only could reveal something about evolutionary history, but that it also made a step-by-step record of that history. We know today, contrary to Ernst Haeckel's famous "ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny", we do not go through each adult phase of our ancestry. However, Embryology is still researched to be used as evidence used to prove evolution.
