Summary/Conclusion Cont.

However, according to evolutionnews.org, there are limitations and flaws to the belief that embryology supports evolution. The major limitation is that different organisms have organs and structures which appear identical or very similar in embryonic stages. But different organisms develop body parts for adaptation and functions because they have analogous structures. Those grow and develop to match it's needs for survival, and not necessarily because of evolution.

Lastly, there can be a wide variation in embryos at fertilization. Variation occurs in embryos at every stage of development, and can show some similarities, but will also show noticeable differences.

Basically, embryology is evidence further proving evolution because the embryos of completely different species look extremely similar inside and out. It supports they came from a common ancestor. However, is a human actually linked to fish by a common ancestor? The difference in complexity of the organisms seems to contradict it.

Even with the flaws and limitations of embryological data for evolution, embryology can show potential for the possibility of evolution by the means of natural selection.
