Prevention

Some precautions that can be taken to help prevent SIDS are:

•Always put your baby to sleep on their back. This helps prevent them from suffocating.
•Put babies to sleep on to firm mattress with a fitted sheet. Don't put soft toys, or loose bedding in their crib to help prevent suffocation.
•Breastfeed as long as possible. Breast feeding helps prevent infections that may cause SIDS.
•Dress babies in light clothing to sleep to help prevent overheating.
