INVESTIGATION
On July 22, 1991, two police officers (Rolf Mueller and Robert Rauth) saw a partially clothed man wandering the streets with a handcuff on his wrist. After questioning, the man revealed that he was threatened with a knife inside Jeffrey Dahmer's apartment building. One officer entered Dahmer's apartment and subdued him while the other looked around. The officer found Dahmer's polaroids of the bodies, and found a head in the fridge, three in the freezer, preserved skulls, jars of genitalia, and more pictures.
The FBI investigated the case. Evidence of bodies and tools were sent to forensic labs for investigation. DNA profiling, chemical and tool mark analysis, and photographic and computer examination were all techniques used in this investigation. The remains of 11 bodies were found in his apartment.
