Bryan Hartnell & Cecilia Shepard
September 27, 1969, around 6:15 PM at Lake Berryessa, California: A couple was relaxing by the lake when a man claiming to be an escapee from a prison in Colorado asked for their car and money to go to Mexico.
The killer instructed Shepard to tie Hartnell and then tied up Shepard and told them he was going to stab them.
Shepard was stabbed 10 times, five times in the back and five times in the front.
Hartnell was stabbed six times in the back.
Shepard died 48 hours within the attack and Hartnell recovered and became an attorney in Southern California
