Stamp Act


- Passed by Parliament on March 22, 1765
-Direct tax on the British American colonies
-For every American Colonist
-Required the colonists to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper that they used.
Examples include:
-Ship papers
-Legal Documents
-Licenses
-Newspapers
-Playing cards
The colonists were angered by this and soon the act was repealed on March 18, 1766
