Background
The Tuaregs were the first inhabitants of Niger.
Followed by the Havsa in the 14th century.
Then the Zerma in the 17th century
The Goblr in the 18th century
And the Fulani in the 19th century.
In 1896, Niger was incorporated into French West Africa. There were frequent rebellions, but order was restored in 1922 whenever the French made it a colony. They adopted a constitution in 1959, although next year they withdrew from the community, proclaiming its independence.
