Major issues facing Niger today

Niger's economy is poor with a population of 15.5 million people. About 80% of Niger's land is part of the Sahara desert and the desert keeps spreading. This causes farmers to be chased away from their homes. A majority of Niger's people live in rural areas and live off of less than a dollar a day. Because of Niger's place on the map, Niger faces several natural challenges such as drought, desertification, and floods. Not to mention, Niger's weather conditions are unpredictable.
