Procedure

1. Before you begin the experiment place a small piece of parchment paper onto a flat surface to prevent spilling.

2. Place12 different pH strips about 2 inches apart onto the parchment paper in a 3x4 pattern.

3. Place name tags and label each of them with the name of the liquid being tested.

4. Pour each liquid into an individual container.

5. Use the dropper to extract the first liquid from the container and place one drop onto the pH strip.

6. Wait a few seconds for the pH strip to

change color.

7. Record the color change.

8. Looking at the color that was recorded,

figure out the pH number, then determine

whether the liquid is basic or acidic.

Repeat steps 1-8 with the next 11 liquids.
