Fingerprint patterns:

Loops- Are prints that recurve back on themselves to form a loop shape. These are divided into radial loops and ulnar loops. Loops make up about 60% of all pattern types.

Whorls- Are prints that form circular or spiral patterns, like tiny whirlpools. There are 4 groups of whorls: plain, central pocket loop, double loop, and accidental loop. Whorls make up about 35% of pattern types.

Arches- These prints create a wave-like pattern and these include plain arches and tented arches. Arches make up about 5% of of all pattern types.
