This Flowboard is a précis of a few articles and presentations I have come across in print or on the web. I hope this is of value to you.
The basic premise is that as coaches we fall into one of maybe five coaching styles. Each style has its strengths and weaknesses. Here we will mostly try to understand the style weakness so we can better expose our individual strengths.
Consciously, or, unconsciously we have a mix of styles we regularly use. However one of the styles is usually dominant.
It is important to understand our coaching style(s) making sure it is (they are) applicable to our age group and more importantly our presentation style is applicable to each individual within that group. Our style plays a large part in how we are perceived by others. Everyday we ask our players to improve and educate themselves, therefore, as coaches it is imperative that we embrace that mantra, understand and improve ourselves.
