Keep in mind when I say that fingerprints are super duper important. They've been used in forensic science since about 1904 and continue to be essential in most cases today. Here's some neat things about them that are in no particular order and unrelated to each other.

It's no surprise that fingerprints are unique, but so unique that not even identical twins have a matching set.
Fingerprints were actually the main basis of forensic science and have consistently been useful in solving cases that seemed to have gone cold originally.
They aren't just for telling one person apart from another. Fingerprints were originally just for helping people hold and pick things up.
The environment of the womb is believed to directly effect the growth and development of fingerprints. This is why everyone has different prints from each other.
Koalas actually have fingerprints that are almost identical to humans, but they also have two thumbs on each hand, which makes things weird.
