The Bronx Masquerade is about Mr. Ward's English class who has been studying the Harlem Renaissance and are all assigned the task of writing an essay. The Harlem Renaissance took place from 1917 till 1935. It was a cultural, social and artistic time. Harlem was the center of this explosion. African-American writers, musicians, poets, scholars and artists were the highlight of this time period. It was considered as an literary movement.
African-Americans migrated to Chicago, Washington D.C., and New York in which were considered as the industrial. They moved to find new opportunities. African-Americans celebrated their heritage for the first time in years. The Harlem Renaissance opened many door for blacks. This time period influenced generations of American-American writers such as, Gwendolyn Brooks and Robert Hayden.
