Who Punished the Criminals

Torture and punishment has existed for thousands of years. Roman and Greek law stated that only slaves were allowed to be tortured, eventually the laws changed and free men were punished for crimes. During Tudor times English laws was practically geared toward torture. They would punish people for crimes and the them be beaten by towns people. The poor class was discriminated against while the rich had it easy. In the middle ages they would usually have the punishment in public so the person would be humiliated. Back then then crime was taken very seriously and so was the punishment.
