Quoting

Block quotation - a quotation in a written document, that is set off from the main text as a paragraph

• A prose quotation of five or more lines should be blocked. 

• blocked quotations do not get placed in quotation marks.

• A block quotation must have a line before and after it is placed

• block quotations must be indented by .5"

Direct quote - a word-for-word repetition of written or spoken language

• put direct quotes inside of quotation marks

• end quote with a subscript right after quotation mark and make a corresponding footnote
