How Living on Mars Will Affect the Human Body

-Surface gravity on Mars is 38% that of Earth

-Easier Landing

-Earth gravity will not be present to strengthen cell bones and muscles.

-may cause physiological change in bone density, muscle strength, and circulation.

-may be impossible to survive Earth's conditions if astronauts were to return

-calls will be time delayed for 3-22 minutes, which may change to way the crew views themselves.

Mars is:

50% further from the Sun, 11% smaller from the Earth

-absence of ozone layer and liquid water.

Martian dust devils (10x larger than tornadoes) pose a threat

Martian habitats need to protect crews from radiation exposure.

2 hours of sunlight a day; 22 mSv (millisievert) per year (individual exposure)
