What is the Yulin dog festival?

The Yulin Dog Meat Festival, is a festival where both dogs and a small percentage of cats are massacred for the purpose of Human consumption. This occurs on the 21st of July to mark the summer solstice. The dogs and cats that are used in the festival are often stolen from family homes, snatched from the side of the road or bought from Chinese dog farms. Not only do these animals suffer from physical trauma but they also suffer from mental agony.
