Symptoms of Edwards' Syndrome:
1: severely mentally impaired
2: organ defects
3: abnormally shaped head
4: small jaw and mouth
5: clenched fists
Trisomy 18, or Edward's Syndrome is a condition where there is an extra 18th chromosome.
Occurrence:
-1 in 5000 infants are born with Edward's Syndrome
-Most babies die before birth
-Edwards' Syndrome is also more common when older women
have children's
Life expectancy and quality of life:
-95% of infants born with Edwards' syndrome live less than a month
-very few live to a year old.
