Structure

There are two types of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) - smooth ER and rough ER. Smooth ER acts as a storage organelle, creating and storing lipids and steroids. Rough ER is very important in the synthesis and packaging of proteins. It is made of membranes and found throughout the cell and connected to the nucleus.
