Did we evolve from prokaryotes?

QUESTIONS

The different between eukaryotic cells and prokaryotic cells is that eukaryotic cells are more complex - they have a nucleus and mitochondria. There is evidence showing that mitochondria could be descendants of a bacteria. Scientists suggest that the prokaryotic cell - the earliest life form - "ate" these bacteria, and the bacteria ended up living in the cell, which benefitted from the energy the bacteria gave. These internal bacteria were passed down through generations and developed into what we now call the mitochondria. Thus process is known as endosymbiosis.
