Men vs Women: Women are more likely to have symptoms of syphilis and the disease can affect their reproductive abilities.

SIGNS &

Primary Stage (First Stage)- there are multiple sores that are usually firm, round and painless

Secondary Stage (Second Stage)

There may be rashes in the mouth, skin, or genital area. Usually the rashes occur on the palm of hands or the bottoms of feet.

Late Stage (Last Stage)

This stage begins when the sores and rashes disappear. If not treated when it first occurs syphillis can remain in the body for years w/o any signs or symptoms. In this stage, symptoms include, blindness, dementia, and paralysis.
