Teaching adults is even more rewarding than teaching teenagers when I consider the matter of motivation. Adult learners (myself included) are much more engaged in learning as long as it is relevant to their goals and career.

Jennifer Young, CSU Statement of Purpose

I still believe that motivation is the single most impactful issue on how much and how well I learn and others learn. I have come to understand that the best way to activate motivation is to teach to one’s goals and career needs. This practical outlook on education is expressed in the theories of John Dewey in Constructivism and others.

Employing these theories into my practice could enhance and honor the motivation in collaborators, learners, and employees I may have in the future.
