Life experiences shape our identity in many different ways. Usually when something tragic happens to you, it changes you as a person. A death in a family doesn't just change your mindset, it also changes your surrounding. Pretty much everything starts to change. You have to train yourself to live without them and to remember they're not there anymore. It's a very upsetting time and can sometimes make you stronger as a person, but other times it can emotionally destroy you. Not just death, but anything as simple as not being able to ride a bike with all your friends, can cause your attitude to change. You begin to put yourself down, and think to yourself why you can't ride a bike and what's wrong with you. Over time these emotions can build up and lead to something more severe. Bottling up your emotions can cause you to harm yourself, but if you speak up and get the right help you need you'll be fine. Usually, people who have self harmed and gotten treated come back as a stronger person than they were before. And when they get older they come back and speak to children and teenagers and tell them their story and how to seek for help if they're going through a tough time. No one really has a set identity in their lifetime because it's constantly changing.
