War: They were involved in King Philip's War in 1675 to reclaim land in Massachusetts. Also in the Great Swamp Massacre where military force killed Narragansett women and children.

Facts: in one household, there were 20 families living together. Also, the total number of members declined in the 18th and 19th centuries but bounced back in the 21st century.

Important people: Giovanni de Verrazano organized the systems under "kings".
