Photosynthesis : Vertical Farming

Without plants and its main energy source, the Sun, everything on Earth will die. Food chains will be unbalanced and species would disappear quickly. Plants are needed within nature because they keep all living things balanced. Photosynthesis then is important to everyone, because if plants do not make their own food, there would be no oxygen, no nutritional sources of energy, and consumers would not exist because they obtain their energy from plants. Every living thing is linked in some way, maintaining each other’s survival. Looking into finding new ways to increase photosynthetic and crop productivity, vertical farming is one of the ways proposed since it is attractive in a variety of ways: food is produced with less water, less waste is created, less space is taken than in traditional farming, and it ultimately leaves a smaller footprint while yielding large crop numbers.
