Dedication

He went to great lengths to further academic research

He established the Brain as the most important organ

While Galen was dissecting a pig, it would of course squeal after each incision, but when the nerves of the pig were severed something strange happened. The pig went quiet. After some more study into the matter he found the importance of nerves and published on the subject.

Below is an excerpt from his book On the Natural Faculties:

"The discussion which follows we shall devote entirely, as we originally proposed, to an enquiry into the number and character of the faculties of Nature, and what is the effect which each naturally produces."


It illustrates his desire to inform the public on the art of healing.
