Parts of the Respiratory System
Lungs- Two cone-shape organs in the chest that work with the respiratory system to allow you to take in fresh air, get rid of stale air, and even talk.
Alveoli- tiny air filled sacs in the lungs where the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide occur between the lungs and the bloodstream.
Bronchi- The two main branches of the the trachea (windpipe) leading into the lungs.
Diaphragm- a dome-shaped muscle that works with your lungs to allow you to inhale and exhale air.
Cilia- fine hairs that gently move to keep mucus and dirt out of the lungs by sending it to the throat where it is spit out or swallowed.
