* While researching the tests used from the US Military, Flynn came to realize that people were getting smarter, not dumber.

* To confirm his findings he looked at several different types of intelligence tests and many different cultures.

* After realizing that his findings were correct and people were becoming smarter, this became known as the "Flynn Effect".
