How does hearing change with age?

Age related hearing loss, presbycusis, is the loss of hearing that gradually occurs in most of us as we grow old.

Age relax hearing loss most often occurs in both ears, affecting them equally. There are multiple causes of age related hearing loss. The most common one arise from the change in the inner ear as we age. It can also be a result of change in the middle ear.

Age related hearing loss can occur from long reaped exposure to noise. Noise induced hearing loss is caused by exposure to loud noises or noises that last to long. It can damage the sensory hairs as we age.

Most older people have a combination of both age related hearing loss and noise induced hearing loss.
