They were trapped in the cyclops Polyphemus' cave. But Odysseus had a plan. He got Polyphemus drunk and when he feel asleep, they stabbed him in his one eye with a sharpened stick. This made him open the door and Odysseus and his men escaped by hiding under the cyclops' sheep.
