Hazel Grace Lancaster

Hazel Lancaster, isn't your typical teenage girl. After being diagnosed since she was little, it has caused her to look at life a little differently. As she's scared to get close to anyone due to the fact that she thinks she's a grenade. She knows someday she will die because of her cancer and she doesn't want to hurt the people she loves so she acts quite distant. Hazel Grace thinks she's doing everyone a favor when she acts remote. In the book, Hazel also falls in love with a boy from her support group. First acting distant, she soons find out that being distant will not change the way he loves her. Their love flourishes throughout the book.

Augustus Waters

Augustus Waters was first introduced when he came to the support group to support his friend Isaac. It was love at first sight for him, once he saw Hazel. Augustus got cancer is in leg, which had to be amputated to reduce the risk or it spreading to the rest of his body. He is a charming, nice, and relatable guy who likes to take chances and be spontaneous.
